The mission of the Arlington Volleyball Club is to provide female Northern Virginia volleyball players, their coaches and parents with a positive learning experience. To reach this goal, we have carefully selected coaches who have both extensive technical knowledge of volleyball and experience successfully coaching teenage girls. As a parent-driven organization, we firmly believe that coaches must understand the psychology of coaching females in order to be effective. We seek athletes who want quality instruction in a supportive environment, allowing players to increase their level of play more quickly.
Administration. To attract the best coaches in the Northern Virginia area, the AVC provides maximum adminstrative support to its coaches. Our paid Club Administrator and Club Director are assisted by parent volunteers. This frees our coaches to spend their time with the players at practice and tournaments to develop their talent to its fullest. If your daughter is selected to play, consider volunteering to help us with administrative duties. The more parents that participate, the less we each do, and the better the Club runs.
Commitment. It cannot be overemphasized that club volleyball requires commitment. The entire program involves a great deal of time, effort and financial resources. The Club seeks athletes and families who will participate fully. This requires attending two practices per week from December through May and maintaining availability for six to eight weekend tournaments as well as several scrimmages. To those who choose to participate, the benefits are numerous, including enhanced social development, improved physical health, and learning the values of teamwork, responsibility, self discipline and self motivation.
